We source grapes from several sites around the Nelson region encompassing the Waimea Plains with its rich alluvial soils to the Moutere Hills and their intense clay loams. Nelson’s cool maritime climate allows us to produce distinctive wines from the various sub-regions.

The home-block vineyard, located near the iconic Upper Moutere Village was first planted in 1973 and contains a number of varieties including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Montepulciano and the oldest commercial Riesling vines in the South Island. Kahurangi Estate was established in 1998 and continues to be a leading brand in the quality focused Nelson wine scene.

Tasting Notes

Our Estate Reserve Pinot Rosé showcases elegance and vibrancy in every sip. Delicate aromas of wild strawberries and rose petals lead into a palate bursting with bright red berries. A silky texture and lively acidity bring balance, adds depth to the long, refreshing finish.
